Hand-Crafted Saint Chapbooks

A chapbook of prayer and remembrance, hand crafted by Pastor Lyvers

This little book is made by hand, one copy at a time, for one person. It holds the story of your saint's life and faith, the prayers of the Church, and a prayer to your saint written for you alone. Keep it by your bed, carry it in a bag, or give it to someone you love. There's a chapbook for every saint: each one is gathered and made after you order it.

Made by hand, with prayer

Every chapbook is made by hand at Pastor Lyvers's own worktable, one copy at a time and never in a hurry. A prayer is written for each one; then it is printed, folded by hand, stapled with a hand-pulled stapler, trimmed, prayed over, and sent to you with a blessing. It's slow work, and that's the point: making the book becomes a prayerful meditation on the saint inside it, and on the person who will hold it.

Hands typing a prayer on a keyboard beside a wooden rosary and crucifix — **Written for you**A new prayer is written for your copy alone, then read over with care and prayed.

Printed chapbook pages coming out of a small printer on a wooden desk — **Printed**Each book is printed one copy at a time, at a little printer in a quiet office corner.

Hands folding printed chapbook pages and pressing the crease with a bone folder — **Folded by hand**Every sheet is folded by hand and the crease pressed flat.

Hands pulling the lever of a manual saddle stapler to bind a chapbook — **Stapled by hand**The book is bound along its fold with a hand-pulled saddle stapler.

Hands trimming a stapled chapbook on a guillotine paper trimmer — **Trimmed**Its edges are trimmed clean on a guillotine trimmer.

Folded hands holding a wooden rosary in prayer over a finished chapbook — **Prayed over**Before it leaves, each book is prayed over with the rosary, and the prayer written for it is prayed for the one who will receive it.

Hands sliding a finished chapbook into a kraft paper envelope — **Sent with care**Then it is slipped into its envelope and sent to you with a blessing.

Made for one person

Pastor Lyvers gathers your saint's life, words and prayers, and makes each book by hand for the one who will receive it.

Dedicated by name

The name you give is printed on the dedication page: “This little book was made with prayer for…”

Personal attention

No two books are alike. Each is numbered by hand, checked page by page, and made for one person, never in bulk.

Faithful and honest

Your saint's own words and the traditional prayers are cited. Miracles are labeled approved, reported or traditional. Every painting is a public-domain work of art.

Your book helps keep this work going

Saints Encyclopedia is funded in part by these handmade chapbooks. Every book you order helps keep the lives, miracles, prayers and feast days of the saints free for everyone to read.

Inside each book

Every book is gathered and made after you order it, from what the Church has handed down about your saint. It opens with a prayer written for you, then tells your saint's story, with the prayers of the Church, Scripture to pray with, public-domain art, and a page at the back for your own prayer intentions. What else it holds depends on your saint: some left us their own words and prayers, some are remembered for miracles or feast-day customs, and some are known to us only by a name and a holy life.

Questions

Is the prayer really written for me?

Yes. Every copy has its own prayer, written for the person who receives it.

Are these the saint's own prayers?

The book keeps them clearly apart. Your saint's own words and the Church's traditional prayers are printed with their sources. Prayers by Pastor Lyvers, which ask the saint's prayers for us through Christ, are signed with his name.

Can I order books for several people?

Yes. Add a copy for each person, with their own name and prayer request, or search for other saints. More copies of the same saint's book are only $8.95 each. Everything in one order ships together in one package to one address.

How much does it cost?

Each saint's book is $14.95, and more copies of that same book are $8.95 each. In the USA, shipping is $5 for the whole order, however many books or saints: one book comes to $19.95, and three copies of one saint's book to $37.85.

Can I order copies for a baptism or First Communion?

Yes. Set the number of copies you need. Each copy carries the same name and the same prayer, and each is still made, numbered and prayed over by hand.

Can I give it as a gift?

Of course. Put the name of the person it's for above, and send it to their address at checkout.

How much is shipping, and where do you ship?

In the USA, shipping is a flat $5 for the whole order, no matter how many books you order. Outside the USA, you pay the actual USPS international postage for your package, quoted live from USPS on the day you order and shown in PayPal as soon as you choose your address. We don't mark up postage and we don't add a handling fee: what USPS charges us to mail your books is exactly what you pay. Some countries charge their own import taxes on arrival.

When will it arrive?

Because each book is made by hand, please allow 2–4 weeks for delivery.

What do you do with my name and address?

We use them only to make and ship your book, and your prayer request only to write your prayer. They're never sold or shared.
