About the Curator

Pastor Lyvers

Pastor Lyvers has a deep and abiding interest in religious education: helping ordinary believers, and the curious, understand the history, people and practices of the Christian faith. Ordained in 1995, he has served for three decades in pastoral ministry and Christian counseling, and he holds a Doctor of Divinity.

He is the editor of Lone Trumpet, an independent Christian publication, where he writes daily news articles examining current events and moral questions in the light of Scripture. He also hosts a podcast, including The Socratic Podcast: Is Christianity True? and audio editions of his articles and sermons, on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. He builds free, subscription-free tools for prayer and Bible study.

Why Saints Encyclopedia

At Saints Encyclopedia, Pastor Lyvers curates and reviews every entry. The site presents the lives of the saints, and the prayers and devotions connected with them, as the Catholic and Orthodox traditions understand them: accurately, respectfully and with sources, so readers of every Christian tradition can learn from these men and women of faith.

Pastor Lyvers writes from an evangelical tradition. Where Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant Christians understand the saints differently, entries say so plainly and describe each church's teaching in its own terms. Read how entries are researched in our editorial policy.
